Get your school, work mates or sports team together in September to help families of sick and injured children
‘Redtember’ is our BIGGEST community fundraising event of the year and it’s the easiest way to help us at Ronald McDonald House Central West NSW.
Plan an event at your workplace, school, sporting event or community group to raise vital funds for us that directly helps to support families when their child is sick or injured in the Central West.
There are lot’s of ideas for events from holding a Redtember Sausage Sizzle, a Mufti day with a red theme, decorate your store window with a Red Theme.
By hosting an event you are also helping spread awareness in your community about Ronald McDonald House Central West NSW. Many people in our region may not be aware that we are here and offer free accommodation for families when their child is sick or injured, or if they are experiencing a high risk pregnancy and need to stay close to hospital.
Watch Bathurst High principal, Ken Barwick OAMs brilliant video about how ‘Redtember’ started in 2018 and the impact that this event has had for their school community.
‘Redtember’ is our biggest annual school and community fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Central West. We are hoping to make 2025 the best year yet with an invitation being sent out to every school and pre-school in the Central West and Western Health District to coincide with the children and families that we support.
Initially called ‘Wear Red Day’ and then evolving to ‘Redtember’ the event was created right here in the Central West in 2018, with the help of Bathurst High Principal Ken Barwick AOM. We’d love your school to get involved in ‘Redtember’ to help us support sick and injured children and their families.
Please use the link below to our ‘Redtember 2025’ website that contains a fantastic video that Ken put together which explains how the event has made a positive impact at their school and the different fundraising that they undertook.
How can you help?
Every year in September we ask our communities from across the district to pick one day (or several days!) to fundraise for us during ‘Redtember’. It could be a Red themed Mufti Day at school, Cake Stall, Sausage Sizzle at a local sporting day, Morning Tea or any event that you can think of.
We can help you spread the word about your event with social media tiles and posters to print to promote your event, as well as a QR code that links to your own fundraising page to make fundraising for us during ‘Redtember’ fun and easy.
The event is a great way for Schools and the SRC to get behind a charity that supports children and families from the Central West. We have options available for tours of the House for your community group, sporting team, work mates or SRC members either before or after Redtember so they can see where the fundraising that you undertake has a direct impact helping us support families from their communities. We can arrange a virtual tour for those who are unable to visit the House in Orange in person.
Why we need help?
Your school and community network are vital in helping us raise awareness about our services. Many families may not be aware that the eligibility to stay with us is anyone who lives more than 25kms from Orange, which allows us to accommodate lots of villages and towns close by.
We rely on fundraising for 79% percent of our funding to keep the House and our programs available to families when they need it most – caring for a sick or injured child needing treatment in our region.
