About Us

A place that feels like home, when families need it most

Keeping Families Close

Welcome to Ronald McDonald House Charities Central West NSW.

We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital support programs for families with sick or injured children.

Ronald McDonald House Central West opened in April 2015 with our House built in the grounds of Orange Health Service, after years of planning and fundraising.

In 2024, our services grew to include a Hospitality Cart program at the Dubbo Base Hospital.

Through our supported accommodation and wrap-around services, we strive to keep families together when life gets turned upside down due to a child’s illness.

Our Ronald McDonald Houses and Programs are run by a hard working team of staff and volunteers, aided by the generous support of our Board Members, donors, sponsors and corporate partners.

Our Ronald McDonald House in Orange offers families a tranquil and restful ‘home away from home’ while their child is receiving treatment in Orange.

Currently we have eight family rooms that sleep up to six guests each. The private rooms all have, ensuites, bar fridge, television and outdoor deck and some larger rooms also have self contained laundry and kitchen facilities.

We have full laundry access available for all of our families, communal kitchen, dining and lounge area and an outdoor and indoor play area.

Our House in Orange is located 275 metres from the rear entrance of Orange Health Service, in the ground of Bloomfield Campus.

A walking path can be followed from the Hospital, through the Bowling Greens of Orange Country Club to our front door.

Who We Support and How

We currently have many ways that we are actively serving ‘more families better’ in the Central West.

Our Ronald McDonald House in Orange supports families who have travelled for more than 25kms so that their sick or injured child aged 18 and under could receive treatment at one of Orange’s three hospitals – Bloomfield, Orange Health Service and Dudley.

The types of treatment children receive in Orange ranges from: Trauma care

  • Specialist Care including Surgery for ENT
  • Dental
  • Cochlear and Orthopedic Fracture Clinic
  • Antenatal Care
  • Paediatric treatment
  • Special Care Nursery
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit

Our Hospitality Cart in Dubbo serves families with children receiving treatment in the Paediatric ward and Special Care Nursery. These families are from Dubbo, the Central West and also right across NSW.

Acknowledgement of Country

At Ronald McDonald House Central West NSW we respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, skies and waterways on which we gather today.
We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. We celebrate the resilience and strength oof young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, the next generation of storytellers, Custodians and leaders. We are honoured to support and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including families with ill or injured children, so together we can create a brighter, healthier future for every child.

Make a Difference for Families & Children

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
