Safeguarding Children and Young People

Our mission is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

We keep children and young people safe in our spaces and do not tolerate any kind of abuse.

Our team, including employees and volunteers, must meet high standards to ensure they prevent and report abuse. We ensure all children and young people have a safe space where we listen to them and empower them.

Every day, we aim to make children and young people feel valued, protected, and heard

Our Commitment

Each and every individual should be treated with respect. RMHC Chapters and RMHC Australia are committed to providing a safe environment for all children and young people who are involved in, or accessing our services.

We encourage our employees, volunteers, contractors and members of the community to assist us in continuing to build and maintain an environments and programs that are safe for our children, free from abuse, harm and neglect. In doing so RMHC Chapters and RMHC Australia are continuously establishing new controls and procedures that prevent and deter potential behaviour so that we can provide a safe child environment at all times.

Our Safeguarding Children and Young People (SCYP) policies and procedures are easy to understand and are communicated to children, young people and their families, our employees, volunteers and the general public.

We have implemented measures to ensure we regularly review our policies, gain endorsement of changes and advise all employees, volunteers and contractors of these amendments.

Acknowledgement of Country

At Ronald McDonald House Central West NSW we respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, skies and waterways on which we gather today.
We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. We celebrate the resilience and strength oof young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, the next generation of storytellers, Custodians and leaders. We are honoured to support and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including families with ill or injured children, so together we can create a brighter, healthier future for every child.

Make a Difference for Families & Children

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
